Ash and 'The Pavilion'

Ash and 'The Pavilion'

'The Pavilion' is an amusement park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It's located next to the ocean and it has been there for 50 years. Having the Saturday free, we decided to drive down there since it was the last day it was going to be in operation. I'm not sure the reason but I guess the owner is selling the land where the park is located. We ended up unable to go inside because they sold out of the general admission tickets. I took this shot and many more from the outside. It's funny because usually I feel there are very few photographers in South Carolina. On this day, it seemed as if everyone and their mother was one. It definitely ended up being one of the more memorable days so far this year. I actually ended up making the 11 o'clock news. Once I get the video, I'll be glad to fill everyone in. And it has nothing to do with photography. -- As for the picture, heavy processing. I shot some portraits earlier in the week so I was bit ready to go outside the lines. I also got my camera back this past week too. So maybe I can get rolling again.

  • Very nice colors and a great perspective here. The arc of the ballustrade gives even more dynamic to the picture. Great work!

  • I spent a week at Myrtle Beach in May 1994. The water was nice and warm and there were plenty of things to do and see. I don't remember coming to The Pavilion, but we did try some miniature golf. Wooden roller-coasters are great. The sound is so much better than the metal ones...

  • Nice to see you back in action. This shot makes me want to get on a 'coaster right away!

Do post that video when you get it - it's always interesting to see people's lives beyond photography!
