Galaxy Revisited

Galaxy Revisited

I took this Friday...at 1.6 and i still added some blur for some dof.... I just now got a card reader that would work for my laptop since I haven't been in Cola in a week.... This same car can be seen here with an earlier post....though i took that one about a year ago....had no clue it was the same car when i took it.... The odd thing about this image is you can actually see where I kissed my girlfriend for the first time....
Camera: Canon EOS 20D (Canon)
Focal Length: 50 mm
Exposure: 1/1000 sec
Aperture: f 1.6
ISO: 100

  • This is a scene right out of the late '50s/early 60's. Mainstreet USA. The composition is excellent - reminds of my experiences in Montgomery, Alabama - the feel of a more naive time and place. I really like it.

As we discussed before, you have a real feel for this type of photographic journalism. The way you've captured the subtle angles of the street, car and walkways all add to this image's attractiveness.

From a technical aspect, I think the highlights are just over the edge and could be pulled back a little. I'd like to see what this looks like in color - I believe it might be a better image with the contrasts color provides. I think slowing the shutter down to 1/125 and increasing the aperture just a tad would have helped. That blob of sky in the upper left corner lacks detail which is a negative.

However, all things being equal, it's a really good slice of everyday life. Really good. Well done.

PS: Let me guess - you kissed the gal by the monument. (Did the same with Mrs. Francis back in the day.) :>)

  • It amazes me how many well preserved old cars you have in your area. You photograph them well.
